OpenType GSUB Engine

Zero plugins. Built into the font glyph tables.

Fast-Font harnesses the native OpenType calt (Contextual Alternates) feature. When enabled in your software, the font automatically replaces the initial characters of each word with bold glyphs.

  • 100% Offline: Works seamlessly on airplanes, e-ink devices, and isolated networks.
  • Application Agnostic: If the software supports custom OTF/TTF fonts, it works.

Setup Instructions

Step-by-step setup for your reader or app — no technical skills needed.

Microsoft Word

  1. 01Download the font pack and unzip it.
  2. 02Install the fonts: run the included installer, or select every .ttf, right-click and choose Install.
  3. 03Restart Word, then set the font family to Fast Sans (or Fast Mono).
  4. 04Open Font → Advanced and tick Contextual Alternates — this is what turns on the bold word-starts.
  5. 05Start typing — the first part of each word is now emphasized automatically.

Amazon Kindle

  1. 01Download the font pack and unzip it on your computer.
  2. 02Connect the Kindle with a USB cable. It appears as a drive named Kindle.
  3. 03Open the Kindle drive and find the fonts folder in its root. If it is missing, create a folder named fonts.
  4. 04Copy the .ttf files (e.g. Fast OpenDyslexic) into that fonts folder.
  5. 05Safely eject the Kindle and unplug it. If the font does not appear, restart the Kindle (Settings → Device → Restart).
  6. 06Open any book, tap the top of the screen, then Aa → Font and select Fast OpenDyslexic.

Kobo & KOReader

  1. 01Download and unzip the font pack.
  2. 02Connect the device by USB and open it in storage mode.
  3. 03Copy the font files into the fonts folder in the root (on KOReader use koreader/fonts). Create the folder if it is missing.
  4. 04Safely eject the device and unplug it.
  5. 05Open a book, tap the font menu in the reading view and select Fast Font.
